Alessandro Viola’s 2019 Rosé is made of 100% Nero d’Avola, from younger vines planted on sandy, clayey soil at 250 metres altitude. After a manual harvest in the first week of September, the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed into stainless steel tanks. Fermentation took place with indigenous yeasts, without additions or temperature control. Afterwards, the wine was aged for six months in stainless steel. It was then bottled unfiltered and unfined, with 20mg/l of sulphites added at bottling.
Alessandro Viola’s 2019 Rosé has a bright, light-ruby color and a refreshing, fragrant nose, filled with notes of cherry, raspberry, strawberry and candied violet. On the palate it’s light- to medium-bodied, silky and gluggable, with loads of red fruit, hibiscus, citrus zest and some clean minerality. Excellent as an aperitif or with antipasti and light meat dishes.
